How it works

From your questions to a conversation, in four steps

You choose the questions

Twenty-five of them: three from each of eight categories, and one you write yourself. They become the framework the conversation follows.

We arrange the conversations

Two or three, depending on the option you choose — about an hour each, by telephone, on separate days and at times that suit the storyteller. We offer a first conversation within three weeks of your order, and nothing has to be finished in one sitting.

They talk, we write it down

Spoken answers run about three times longer than anyone writes by hand — and some stories only come out when someone is listening. Every answer is typed up and printed as an 8½ × 11 inch hardback, ten to twelve weeks from that first conversation.

They see it first, then you approve it

The storyteller reads the finished book before anyone else, or has it read to them, and may remove anything without giving a reason. Then you approve it, and only then is it printed.
